Satisfaction Across the Sub-domains of Life and Quality of Life of the Elderly

Abstract

|
The main purpose of this study is to delineate the components of quality of life of the elderly and to examine their effects on the overall quality of life. For this study, questionnaire survey was performed on 800 respondents over the age of 60 in four areas in Korea. Health was ranked as the first among the listed components of quality of life. However, satisfaction level with health was ranked as 10th based on the mean value. Two variables representing satisfaction levels with financial status and social contribution were turned out to be statistically significant in predicting the quality of life in three different cases(e.g., those with work, those with religion, those without work and religion). Health was a significant factor in predicting the quality of life of only those with work.
